Delicate garments are like works of art: they require special care to maintain their beauty and extend their useful life. In this blog, I share care tips for your most precious clothes.
1. Research before acting:
Know your enemy: Research what type of fabric you are dealing with, its characteristics and vulnerabilities. Each material has specific needs.
Read the label: The care label is your best friend. It will give you information on proper washing, drying and ironing.
2. Cleaning with love:
Hand wash or delicate cycle: Opt for a gentle wash with cold water and a delicate detergent. Avoid rubbing or twisting the garment.
Air drying: Excessive heat from the dryer can damage the fibers. Prefers natural drying outdoors, in the shade.
Stubborn stains: Act quickly with a stain remover specific to the type of stain. Be careful with bleach and fabric softeners, which can damage the fabric.
3. Precision ironing:
Low temperature: Use a steam iron at low temperature to avoid burning the fabric.
Ironing inside out: Protect the garment by ironing it inside out, using an ironing cloth if necessary.
4. Storage with care:
Padded hangers: Maintain the shape of the garment by using padded hangers.
Careful folding: Fold clothes carefully to avoid wrinkles.
Cool, dry place: Store garments in a cool, dry place protected from direct sunlight.
5. Additional tips:
Repair seams: Check and repair unstitched seams to prevent further damage.
Avoid overloading: Do not fill the washer or dryer to the maximum so that the clothes move freely.
Dry cleaning as an ally: In case of difficult stains or very delicate garments, turn to a professional dry cleaner.
